Downtown Art Festival re-cap

Downtown Art Festival re-cap

It was a beautiful, Sunny, November after noon and a perfect day to check out this year's Gainesville Downtown Festival & Art Show. With more than 240 local and national artists displaying original oils and acrylics, vibrant watercolors, unique sculptures, dazzling jewelry, decorative ceramics and vivid photography downtown G'ville was the perfect spot for a slow walk along the brick roads of Hogtowne. It was projected there would be close to 100,000 art lovers in town and the GLOB Master saw this event as a perfect photo opportunity:

zzGLOBbullet Long time GLOBer, and artist Tina Corbett was presenting her art at the festival and was excited about opening her new studio. Lanza Gallery & Art Supplies in High Springs will also be hosting this years High Springs annual Black & White Party showcasing some 25 local artists and their creations along with a reception next Saturday from 7-9 pm. "My maiden name is Lanza and I am honoring my father by naming my study after him," Tina said proudly.

zzGLOBbullet 111615asParsonsCheryl Parson who calls herself a contemporary still life painter from Herndon, Virginia was a GLOB Master favorite with some very dramatic oil painting studies of some amazing vegetable studies. More importantly there were some fun beautiful children's images that were screaming, "Buy me for that cute granddaughter Penelope Heller."

zzGLOBbullet How fitting that the SW 2nd Avenue giant balloon entry framed two very impressive looking food stands. This art show foyer had me thinking of former Gainesville Lunch Out Blog staffer Molly Larmie and her search for turkey legs at the Medieval Faire. NOTE TO MOLLY: Market value for turkey legs at this art show was $12.00 a drumstick.
