BOK Grand Opening caps 'Humdinger' weekend

LOCALDIGESTauthorBox9PT

The last installment of the Local Digest was all about Blue Oven Kitchens' December events: ArtWalk last Friday, the third annual LOCAL Winter Gift Fair, and our facility's grand opening Sunday, December 9th. Well, it was a hum-dinger of a weekend! We loved talking with members of the community about all the ways they would like to use Blue Oven to teach their own cooking classes, market a product, or even just make a lot of a family recipe for gifts and for enjoyment throughout the year by family and friends.

Thank you to everyone for your support, and for taking the time to come out to our events!  This Sunday we were delighted that Gainesville's own Satchel Raye – owner of Stachel's Pizza – offered to do a video for us for our online fundraising campaign. You can watch Satchel's BOK video here, and learn more about us!  Plus the Gainesville Lunch Out Blog published a great picture page of Sunday's Grand Opening.

If you would like to contribute even $10 towards 121212BOK2our project – or do some additional holiday shopping by receiving some of the cool perks associated with some levels of contribution – please check out our indiegogo fundraising campaign.

Please look for full updates on the BOK website, Facebook page, and through the Gainesville Lunch Out Blog of course! With this facility, we will create new ways for you to support new and expanding food entrepreneurs and small farmers who want to create delicious food products for your enjoyment. Contact Blue Oven Kitchens Director Val Leitner if you would like more information on how to volunteer your elbow grease, if you would like to become a sustaining sponsor to Blue Oven, or if you would just like to help us buy a stand-up mixer for our facility!

Have a wonderful holiday, Happy New Year!

Nemaste,

Val

Want to know more about what’s local and what local means in our community? The Local Digest is a monthly piece on all things local in North Central Florida, from food to economics to environment to community. Local, you see, isn’t just a way of buying or a way of eating: it’s a whole system of the social, economic, and environmental values that mark the character of where we live, and how we seek to improve the health of those values. It is a column about sustaining our region and what we love most about it.
