2:30: Zoo at the Alachua County Library, Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo. Get up close and personal, touch a furry spider or beautiful lizard or colorful bird. But don't be scared. These animals will all be handled by expert zoologists. Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo will return to the Alachua County Library on three Fridays this summer - June 28, July 12, and August 2. 6:00: 'Absolute Abstracts' Exhibition, GFAA Gallery, 1314 S Main St. The Gainesville Fine Arts Association present the 'Absolute Abstracts' Exhibition. This event features artwork by GFAA artists consistent with the monthly ARTWALK theme. The Front Gallery will feature self-curated collections of artwork. 7:00: Synchronica:: Framing Time, OPENING NIGHT, Thomas Center. This new exhibit will run Friday, June 28, 2019 – Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020. A public reception for the exhibition will take place June 28 from 7–9 p.m. during ARTWALK Gainesville. Synchronica :: Framing Time, is an exhibition of 150 photo portraits made of and by young adults between the ages of 14 and 21. The 150 images paint a picture of our community of young people as they stand at the verge of becoming the teachers, leaders, parents and change-makers of our city and world.

Closing out the celebration of June as National African-American Music Appreciation Month, "Free Fridays" hosts popular reggae band, De Lions of Jah. Following in the footsteps of Bob Marley and the Wailers, Steel Pulse and Morgan Heritage, De Lions of Jah fuses traditional roots music with contemporary dance hall and dub influences.
