"I can smell the burgers," said one man to another as they stood in the roped-off line leading to the escalator that would carry them to the New York Wine & Food Festival's 11th annual Burger Bash.  There were burgers jacked with Urbani truffles, burgers layered with American cheese and onion jam and a special sauce of indeterminate lineage, burgers wearing toupees of frizzled onions, burgers made from Pat LaFrieda's dry-aged beef brisket and accessorized with mozzarella, spicy mayo, and pepperoncini relish.
