  Thanks for the nice words Spike1 I am 6 weeks from my first year diabetes anniversary and I have literally lived this disease every day. I just had my third A1C test and it was a positive. And I feel really good about how hard i try to prevent any complications. That said the positive outcomes are way overshadowed by a daily barrage of ALMOSTS, TOO HIGHS! SHOULD I EAT THAT, YOU"LL BE SORRY!!! But I don't think I have a choice if I want to keep living an active life Spike.  Mike s, Always trying to be positive hopeful

Good morning GLOBers and congratulations for making it to the middle of the work week.  It is National Fresh Squeezed Juice Day  and the GLOB Master thinks this is the perfect day for meeting at the Market and getting ourselves a glass of juice.  Hmmm . . .  I don't know where to go for my juice with so many choices for fresh juice at the market!

It's Union St. Downrown Farmers Market Wednesday but Market Manager Farmer Charlie Lybrand is ready for the market to return to normal with the construction on the plaza still hampering the wed market:


The saga continues this week on the Plaza with renovations still in progress. Vendors are moved to different spots so you just need to check out the whole market, and you should find most of your favorites. Strawberries are now in season and coming in sweet due to the warm sunny days of the past two weeks. Broccoli ans cauliflower are abundant. Multiple types and colors of Pak Choi are adding to the Asian greens. Mizuna and curly mustards are coming in. Cut flower bouquets and single stem sunflowers are readily available. Salad mix, lettuce and arugula are increasing by the week. Beans took a hit during the last cold snap, but most survived, and they continue to be available. Roselle and radishes are in season. Bitter melon is available. Malabar spinach and eggplant are being harvested. Summer type squash is still available. Leeks, scallions, and Florida Sweet onions are being offered. Root crops such as ginger and turmeric are prolific. Collards continue to yield. Green, blue lacinato and red Russian kale are in season. Parsley and cilantro are accessible. Sweet potatoes and sweet potato greens are abundant. Shiitake, lions mane and oyster mushrooms are readily available. Organic cherry and plum tomatoes are in season as well as multiple varieties of greenhouse tomatoes. Micro greens are offered each week. You will also find local honey every week. Tempeh is offered each week.Cucumbers fresh and pickled are available. Peppers-both sweet and spicy- are abundant. Potatoes are available in multiple colors. Grass fed beef, pork and chicken as well as seafood are offered every Wednesday. An ever increasing variety of vegan prepared foods is also available. Fresh lemonade, ice cream, and kombucha are served each week along with a wide variety of prepared foods.
