Comment of the Day!

Insert Comment of the Well, Mikey, you've got my 'buds a-watering and thinking I've gotta go to La Fiesta. Will do that in the next few days. Thanks AGAIN, buddy, for putting temptation in my path! :)

The Daily GLOB

Happy Tuesday!

GLOBmaster2017Good morning GLOBers the GLOB Master over slept today so this morning missive is a little late.  But I still have some good information to share with you . . .  So lets get to the point of why we do this most every morning:

SciArt Meetup: Astronomy -  Calling all art enthusiasts! Do you enjoy painting, drawing, sculpting or are you just art-curious? Tonight at 7:30 visit the Florida Museum for after-hours SciArt Meetups and create art inspired by Florida nature and culture. Offered in partnership with Santa Fe College Art Gallery and Wayfaring Painter, each meetup features brief presentations by a guest artist and/or scientist. Learn how to create a visually realistic night sky and view a display of Tim’s space-inspired art.

STRAIGHT NO CHASER - Tonight in the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts you can see Straight No Chaser and hear their captivating sound of nine voices coming together to make extraordinary music that moves people in a fundamental sense—and with a sense of humor. They are neither straitlaced nor straight-faced, but they have the talent to back it all up. SNC has emerged as a phenomenon with a massive fan base, numerous national TV appearances, and proven success with CD releases. On the road, Straight No Chaser has built a reputation as an unforgettable live act.

Build a Gingerbread House this holiday season - The ALachua County Libraries will be holding classes on the art of Gingerbread House this year at several of the library locations..  Blocks of gingerbread and tubes of frosting are on our wish list each winter holiday season at the Alachua County Library District. If you share our love of architectural confections, pick one of our many gingerbread decorating programs to attend. Space is often limited, so please arrive early or register where noted.

Hmmm The Glob Master has never built a Gingerbread House before. Let's see what's on our agenda today. . .

Today in the GLOB!

Tijuana Flats

I was eating a black bean taco with jalapeños, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream & cheese. Plus the black beans, and refried beans, are vegetarian lard free beans cooked in zero trans fast cooking oil. BTW Tijuana Flats proudly says they never use canned foods, EVER.  - READ MORE

Chefs talk dinner for 2029!

Ocean life is dwindling, climate change could wreak havoc on our crops, and the massive environmental toll of livestock is only now being fully understood.  So, for New York’s Future Issue of GRUB, we asked New York City’s cutting-edge chefs to imagine “dinner” in 2029. Here’s what they think we’ll see (and eat). - READ MORE

A very 'old man' for a wolf

He was the alpha male of the first pack to live in Oregon since 1947. For years, a state biologist tracked him, collared him, counted his pups, weighed him, photographed him, and protected him. But then the animal known as OR4 broke one too many rules.  This is a really great story of man, and animal living together on the range.  - READ MORE

ALL ABOUT RICE AS WE KNOW IT TODAY - Seriouse Eats has a story on the brief history of the grain that (kind of surprisingly) became a staple for hundreds of millions of people around the world, plus a guide to rice varieties you're likely to see in the supermarket.

Daily GLOB MUSIC FACTOID - Today in 1955 Carl Perkins recorded Blue Suede Shoes at Sun Studios in Memphis. The rock 'n' roll classic became a US No.2 & UK No.10 hit for Perkins in 1956, and has been covered by many acts including Elvis Presley and John Lennon

If you're still hungry and need a good lunch idea FOLLOW THIS LINK to Gainesville's Lunch Out Blog Instagram page.  This is where the GLOB's Image Editor Erica Corbett takes great pleasure in sharing amazingly looking, deliciously yummy images of what we are thinking about, contemplating seriously, and eventually eating for lunch in the Urban GLOB.

Have a totally tubular lunch GLOBers and the GLOB Master will see you here tomorrow for Farmers Market Wednesday.
