The Daily GLOB

Happy Monday!

Good morning GLOBers.  The GLOB Master hopes you had an extraordinary weekend.  Not so much for the mighty Gators who lost their first World Series game convincingly with a 6-3 loss to Texas Tech.  The defending national champion Gators dropped into the losers bracket in their first game of the College World Series. Florida grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Deacon Liput scored on a balk, but the Red Raiders tied the game in the fourth with the aid of a balk by UF starter Brady Singer. Texas Tech added two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to spoil what is possibly the final collegiate start for Singer. The Gators face Texas in an elimination game on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET. Texas lost its first game in Omaha earlier on Sunday, falling 11-5 to Arkansas.  FOLLOW THIS LINK for more information.

CMC Monday Movie:  Targeting Iran is tonight's Civic Media Center Monday Movie starting at 7:00 pm.  Based on the book of the same name by author and journalist David Barsamian, Targeting Iran seeks to elucidate the myths and popular misconceptions surrounding Iran's nuclear aspirations. Through interviews with eminent figures veteran New York Times correspondent Stephen Kinzer and David Barsamian himself, the complexities of Iran's history, socio-political strata and strategic quandary are laid out in all-too-rare a fashion for Western audiences.

SOFAR SOUNDS GAINESVILLE:  A Sofar show will typically feature three acts with no “opener” and no “headliner”. Every lineup is carefully curated to give the audience a diverse show, and each performer is given equal attention.  Guests arrive on time for the first act and stay for the entire show. And during the music, there is full attention: no talking or texting.  You get up close and personal with the artists! There’s no backstage here, so chat with them, get to know them.  FOLLOW THIS LINK for more information.

FREE FITNESS CLASS: Check out this free boot camp class. All fitness levels are welcome.  It's time to get healthy and fit and boot camps integrate sports drills and exercises with boot camp style workouts. Expect to get an amazing workout and have fun while doing it. FOLLOW THIS LINK for more information.
