The Daily GLOB

Happy Thursday!

GLOBmaster2017Good morning GLOBers.  Isn't life funny. Back in the day when Disco was a very hot thing  with a look, high heeled shoes, and a driving back beat like many I turned my nose up to that music.  I just searched out a Donna Summer disco tune and I can't get it out of my head.  In fact I have been singing those songs since last Sunday when I saw the Hipp's The Bikinis.  If you are into tunes the GLOB Master thinks that show is certainly worth your consideration

In the GLOB Master's rock & roll world the Subdudes will go down as one of the most under appreciated groups ever.  They rock with a new orleans groove that can't be missed.  If this group with no real drummer, an amazing squeeze box player, and one of the best slide quitar players out there in Tommy Malone these guys will have you tapping your feet, and nodding your heads to the very cool vibe.

060718Dudes200Led by singer/guitarist Tommy Malone and accordionist John Magnie, the Subdudes draw most of their inspiration from the sounds of their native New Orleans, blending blues, gospel, funk, and R&B with their own harmony vocals; their sound is also notable for the band's substitution of a tambourine player for a drummer. The band came together after backing artists such as Joni Mitchell and Roseanne Cash, and released its eponymous debut in 1989.

There are a good dozen songs I could choose for this spot and today I have picked the 'dudes singing You'll Be Satisfied. What a happy make-you-want-to-dance tune.  That said, after listening to this cool band for a very long time, it seems like a lot of their lyrics are all about love lost.  Maybe that is the association I'm feeling as I get up and dance to this very cool groove empty heart-ed, alone, thinking WTF!

But you see daylight in the distance
Not the end of your rope
And the light is dim
But it burns with hope

Try to find someone
Keep on walking strong
With your heart open wide
You'll be satisfied

All right GLOBers.  So the GLOB Master is called by many TYPO Sanford.  One of my best typographical mistakes was when Donna Summer died I remarked here as to what a great singer she was, and that she died of LUNCH Cancer . . .  It's funny today, not so much back then.  Have a thoroughly therrific Thursday lunch GLOBers and I will see ya right here tomorrow for the best darn day of the week.
