Good morning GLOBers and Happy National Gingerbread Day!  Did you know GLOBer in Nuremberg, Ulm and Pulsnitz in Germany, Torun in Poland, Tula in Russia, the making of gingerbread is considered a Fine Art.  Well how about In 992, gingerbread was first brought to Europe by am Armenian monk named Gregory of Nicopolis.  Yikes that's a long time ago.  Speaking of time the Daily GLOB crossed a milestone today GLOBers with volume eight's 200th issue.  That is a lot of getting up early mornings for the GLOB Master!



It is Union St. Downrown Farmers Market Wednesday and Market Elder Farmer Lybrand is seeing a lot of purple on the plaza, like in giant eggplants:

060618MarketVENDORAs the month of June begins the arrival of eggplant at the market continues the evolution to the summer season. Local sweet corn is also now being harvested.. Another omen of the looming summer heat is yard long beans which are now available. Organic cherry and plum tomatoes are plentiful. Watermelons have joined cantaloupes in increasing quantities. Peaches are still being picked. While displays of beautiful bouquets in a myriad array of colors and styles can be found. Potatoes are plentiful also along with an abundance of squash. Cool weather lettuces, snow peas, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collards and turnips are still being harvested while ever increasing amount and varieties of beans and blueberries continue the showcase of warm weather crops. Strawberries are nearing the end of their season.  Grass fed beef and chicken as well as  seafood are offered every Wednesday. Check the market's products page for a definitive listing of produce. Organic coffee and kombucha are served each week along with a wide variety of prepared foods.

West Coast Swing Dance classes  This evening at 7:00 at 720 NW 23rd Ave. a beginner class is followed by intermediate class and social dancing to practice what you have learned. Professional DJ who knows how to swing the tunes. This is a group for those interested in learning to Swing Dance. A large, active, and friendly group of dancers attend classes on Wednesday nights.



I'LL GET YOU MY PRETTY: The University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance continues its summer theatre partnership with New York production company Tilted Windmills Theatricals, with I’ll Get You, My Pretty, by Jenny Rachel Weiner tomorrow evening at UF's Black Box Theater at 7:30.  Abigail is lost, confused, and twenty-two.
