Today in the GLOB!

Italian Gator

I could go on and on about the IG's pizza. The Italian Gator loads up your slice with a mound of toppings. The pizza is mesmerizing.  Something is going on in that red sauce. "Oh man, that's REALLY good.- READ MORE

'A tempura to call my own'

One summer night in Tokyo, I went out for a walk and passed this sliver of a restaurant, barely wider than the sliding door at its entrance. I squinted at the menu, the print fuzzy from being repeatedly photocopied: TEMPURA- READ MORE

R. Wakefield: Choco-chip cookie inventor

Legend has it that Ruth Wakefield was trying a variation on a butterscotch dessert when she decided to let the chocolate chips fall where they may.   - READ MORE

 051018Tequila

4 REASONS = 1 SHOT OF TEQUILA: Let’s first address the obvious: Tequila is not a “health” food. Drinking a frozen margarita is far from the nutritional equivalent of drinking a banana-turmeric chai smoothie. But when you compare it to other liquors you may be drinking, tequila has some unique benefits.

051018Redbone380

Leon Redbone and the GLOB Master go way back into rock & roll vaults with his first album still bringing smiles to my face.  Even today when I hear Joe Venuti's violin opening on Ain't Misbehavin' I am transported back to SW 7th St. in an apartment complex loaded with students sitting, eating, hanging out talking tunes.

FROM ALLMUSIC.com:

051018Redbone250While his gravelly baritone and omnipresent fedora, dark glasses, and Groucho Marx mustache made him one of the more distinct and recognizable characters in popular music, little is known about the neo-vaudeville crooner Leon Redbone. Throughout his career, he steadfastly refused to divulge any information about his background or personal life; according to legend,   Redbone first came to the attention of mainstream music fans when Bob Dylan saw him perform at the 1974 Mariposa Folk Festival in Ontario. Several months later, Dylan spoke about him in an interview with Rolling Stone. "Leon interests me," Dylan said. "I've heard he's anywhere from 25 to 60, I've been [a foot and a half from him] and I can't tell, but you gotta see him. He does old Jimmie Rodgers, then turns around and does a Robert Johnson."

051018LRdiskThere was his voice coming off of the best radio station on the planet singing about about his ideas of a perfect encounter. Yeah.  I like his interpretation of a great evening.  It work for me. The GLOB Master likes the idea of being seduced . . .

I want to be seduced
Want a woman to talk to me suggestively
Want to hear her say she'll be with me tomorrow morning
Drinking hot jasmine tea
