GLOBmaster2017Good morning GLOBers and a very happy Opening Night Friday Night to you.   The Hippodrome Theatre is opening their first show of 2018 with Marco Ramierez' The Royale, plus the Hipp Cinema also is opening The Square tonight in the same darn building.  The GLOB Master is more than a little excited thinking about a trip into Hippodrome opening night world with very attractive new friend, and Bodeology Operations Manager Erinesha Hamilton, image above, a theater-in-the-round performance about fabled boxer Jack Johnson, and the fun Hipp reception prior to the show.  See ya there GLOBers.




8:00: The Royale, OPENING NIGHT, Hippodrome Theatre, Downtown, various days, times. Jay "The Sport" Jackson embodies every characteristic that defines a hero. The fighter trail-blazes across the nation, rising from poverty in the Jim Crow south to take on the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

The Stockholm Palace Gallery's latest exhibition is about to open, and gallery curator Christian is excited to share his lofty new vision with the world. But when his mobile phone gets pick pocketed, Christian's life is thrown into chaos, as he's forced to reassess just how progressive he really is.

1:00: Fiesta / Concierto Para Puerto Rico, Heartwood Soundstage, 619 S. Main St., Downtown. A festival and concert to benefit agricultural efforts in Puerto Rico. Sponsored by Plenitud PR, a nonprofit ecology-educational farm in Puerto Rico is run by UF graduate Owen Ingley Performers include the AscenDance Aerial Dancers, Baila Caliente, Elio Piedra's Latino Sound Machine, Salsa Mundial and others. DAILY GLOB ROCK MUSIC FACTOID; Today in 1996 AC/DC played the first date on their Ballbreaker World Tour in Greensboro, North Carolina. The world tour would last for 11 months finishing on November 30, 1996 in Christchurch, New Zealand.
