Valerie is an AWESOME cook, and Caribbean Queen is the TRUE taste of Jamaica! It's an IRIE place! Her husband Errol is a pretty good cook, too - AND he's the leader of
the best reggae band in town - IRATION. Check them out, if you ever get the chance. - BZ

The Daily GLOB

Happy Tuesday!

Good morning GLOBers are you feeling the need to collect fresh water yet.  The Publix near the GLOB World Wide Offices had a line of customers outside waiting for the grocery store to open with water bottle in hand.  I guess that is one of the problems of living in Florida on the East Coast during my adolescent life.  I have experienced a lot of really bad storms and I'm still standing.  The GLOB Master is waiting a few more days to start worrying about this storm.

It is Union St. Downtown Farmers Market Wednesday and Market Elder Charlie Lybrand is seeing indications of cooler weather out on the farm:

090617WILDmanThe month of September begins with hints of cooler weather to come as the equinox approaches. Pears are now being harvested while the last of the local grapes are coming in. With the new school year also comes new vendors to the market.  The range of products is expanding each week, and farmers already have many fall crops in the ground. Pork and pasture raised chicken are now regularly available. Southern peas- acres, blackeyes and zipper cream- are yielding. Okra continues to produce.. Peppers, eggplant and yardlong beans also continue to yield. Seminole pumpkins and butternut squash are still being offered. Field grown tomatoes are finished, but farmers are still producing in greenhouses and high tunnels . Potatoes in varied varieties and zinnias are available. Sweet potato greens and arugula are now coming in.  Florida sweet onions- both red and white- are available. Cool weather crops like collards are still being harvested. Some mushrooms from shiitakes to oysters are being harvested. Kale continues to be harvested. Garlic chives, scallions and turmeric can be found.

BLACK ADDER BREWERY TRIVIA:  Get your brain in gear for Trivia. Every Wednesday at 7pm. Prizes for winners. Free to play. Food truck on site.
