Comment of the Day!

Bert Gill is arguably the most creative executive/working chef in North Florida.  And he does not disappoint with his new effort:  Blue Gill Quality Foods.  He has already set the hamburger standard at his New Deal on University next to Mildred's.  But his latest burger is his best ever. The patty is mainly beef but also has pulled pork mixed into it as well.  Then he adds bacon...and more importantly...pimento cheese to make the best burger I've had in years.  His pimento cheese is as good as my gourmet cook Mom's used to be.  His newest establishment is highly matter what part of town you live in.

The Daily GLOB

Happy Thursday!

GLOBmaster2017Good morning GLOBers.  The GLOB Master is starting to feel it. Football is in the air and the mighty Florida Gators are looking the biggest game in a very long time square in the eyes with a nationally televised tussle against the University of Michigan Wolverines. Starting tomorrow each Friday during football season the Daily GLOB will surf to the other home teams city to find a good story from the opponents perspective about the upcoming game. That's fun. It's always good to hear the other side and what they think of the Florida Gators, SEC football.  According to long time pal, GLOB Historian, UF Professor Emeritus and Michigan Alum Dr. Jon Roosenraad I should check out the Detroit Free Press for the best, latest MU sports news Friday morning.  GO GATORS!

The GLOB Master couldn't begin to tell you how many hits the incredible songwriter John Hiatt has over a career that spans over 5 decades.  Sure, I have my favorites.  I always smile when I hear some other artist covering one of his, what are now, timeless classics.

From ALLMUSC,com:

083117Hiatt180aJohn Hiatt's sales have never quite matched his reputation. Hiatt's songs were covered successfully by everyone from Bonnie Raitt, Ronnie Milsap, and Dr. Feelgood to Iggy Pop, Three Dog Night, and the Neville Brothers, yet it took him 13 years to reach the charts himself.   While he was growing up in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana, Hiatt played in a number of garage bands. Initially, he was inspired by the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan, and the music of those two artists would echo strongly throughout his work.

I do a lot of walking and thinking in case you didn't know that fact.  last week I was thinking about love songs. Nobody writes a good tune about love misplaced. gone awry, flat out screwed up like this guy.  His timeless, covered by many, classic love song Angel Eyes says it all about finding the right partner. This tune thinks love isall about this woman's eyes.  The way she looks at her man. And no one is more surprised with her interest than John Hiatt:

Girl, you're looking fine tonight
And every fella's got you in his sight
What you're doing with a clown like me
Is surely one of life's little mysteries
- Angel Eyes
